The Philippines is one country know for its colorful and festive celebrations. Tourists in and out of the country would take time witness such festivals. And for those who are don't that luxury of time and finance need not worry. There is one celebration where in you can be able see and watch personally almost every festival in one setting - THE ALIWAN FIESTA!
Aliwan Fiesta is an annual event that gathers different cultural festivals of the Philippines in Star City Complex in Pasay City wherein contingents compete in dance parade and float competitions, as well as in a beauty pageant. Organized by Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) together with Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the cities of Manila and Pasay, the event is dubbed as "The Mother of All Fiestas" aiming to promote every province/region's tourism and culture. It was my first time to witness the celebration. I was with other photographers, waiting for the parade to start or let's say arrive in the spot where we waited along the Baywalk area. At the moment we saw the first contingent, our group immediately geared up and shot photos.
It was nice to see these groups in their festive costumes, performing at their best. Unfortunately, I had to leave when the parade was already halfway through. Never got the chance to see more of it. But I will definitely prepare for the next Aliwan Fiesta celebration.
